Speak Friend and Enter

Bookworms, booknerds, bookdragons.. All are welcome here!

Welcome to my "bookish blog." My new place for book reviews and a one-stop shop where you can find links to my Goodreads and Bookstagram accounts as well. If you'd like me to review your book, please email me at gardne10@nsuok.edu! *Please note that I do not use e-readers or read pdf formats (I sit at a computer most of the day for work, so the less screen-time I can commit to, the better.. Sorry!).

So, how about an introduction?

My name is Allison Maggie Marie Gardner. Yes, I know it's long. But I love it. You can call me Allison, Ally cat, Ally, Maggie, Mrs. Gardner, Princess Allison... I'll answer to it all.

I am married to my favorite person and best friend/sports fanatic husband, Russell.

I have a Beagle-mix dog named Lucy who has huge floppy ears and loves to lay under the bed when it's storming. She's also a great listener.

As for reading?

90% of my reading is done in the bath or in bed. My lack of a comfy reading chair in the library/spare room of our apartment is very disappointing, but I hope to remedy that soon!

My favorite fantasy reads will probably always be The Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit since they've been a part of my love for literature for a very long time.

The most impactful fiction I've ever read is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. Feel free to message me if you're ever wondering why.

The literary figure I most identify with is Anne Shirley. She resented her red hair at an early age (as did I), was always lost in a book or a fantasy in her head, and she could never control her tongue (guilty).

You can always find out what I'm reading on my Goodreads page or on the widget over on the left-hand side of this page.

And that's me in a nutshell at the moment!

With that being said, welcome to my library! It's so nice of you to stop by. I would love for you to leave me a comment introducing yourself. Let me know if we have anything in common! Talk again soon.

Xoxo

You may have seen my post about it on bookstagram earlier, but in case you missed it, here's the beauty in all its soft purple glory! 😍 What a catch. I am  so  thankful to have received a copy in advance. Although I have yet to start  watching  Chesapeake Shores on Hallmark Channel (it's the very next show on my list!), I was able to appreciate the beauty of this novel. I truly believe it can be enjoyed whether you've read all the Chesapeake Shores books or this is the first you pick up! Synopsis: Single mom Kiera Malone struggled for years to raise her three children in a small town on the coast of Ireland. Just when she’s let down her guard and allowed herself to love again, her fiancé suffers a fatal heart attack and leaves her alone yet again. Overwhelmed by her loss, she’s persuaded to visit her father, Dillon O’Malley, and her daughter, Moira O’Brien, i...

BOOK TOUR!! Steal Away Home by Billy Coffey

It's time!! I am honored to be a part of TLC's book tour for Steal Away Home by Billy Coffey. Published by Thomas Nelson, Steal Away Home is a newly released work of Christian fiction that is told through the eyes of minor league baseball player Owen Cross. As Owen is offered his first big time shot, he reflects back on the journey that led him there. I can truly say several things about this book: The language used and writing style overall is breathtaking. It's poetic. The characters are well-developed and dynamic. The story unfolds in a way that creates tension and mystery. By the end of Steal Away Home , I was dying to see how the flashbacks of Owen's life leading up to the big game would connect to his present state and how far the story would go beyond the game.  Did I mention the cover? 😍 Take a look again, and click the image below to read the full synopsis on Goodreads! Don't forget to add it to your to-read shelf. Steal Away ...

BOOK TOUR! The Weaver's Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd

Huge thank-you to TLC Book Tours for sending me a copy of The Weaver's Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I've read other works by Ms. Ladd, and she has a wonderful talent! I love her characters! Synopsis: Kate's loyalties bind her to the past. Henry's loyalties compel him to strive for a better future. In a landscape torn between tradition and vision, can two souls find the strength to overcome their preconceptions? Loyalty has been at the heart of the Dearborne family for as long as Kate can remember, but a war is brewing in their small village, one that has the power to rip families asunder--including her own. As misguided actions are brought to light, she learns how deep her father's pride and bitterness run, and she begins to wonder if her loyalty is well-placed. Henry Stockton, heir to the Stockton fortune, returns home from three years at war seeking refuge from his haunting memories. Determined to bury the pa...
