๐ฎ The Illuminae Files are complete! I really didn't mean to buy this book at full price right when it released (I have plenty of other neglected, unread books on my shelves), but man, am I glad I did!
I feel like I waited 5 years for this book to come out which is absolutely ridiculous, but that's how much I was looking forward to it. It was probably tied for most anticipated release this year for me (tied with A Reaper at the Gates), which of course means there was major potential for letdown.
But, I am relieved to say this final installment delivered!
I absolutely love that the cast from books 1 and 2 reappeared for this book, and I loved reading their interactions! There were also a few new characters, and somehow I fell in love with them too! None of the relationships or friendships feel forced or in-genuine through the writing, and despite the rather large number of main characters, it actually wasn't too difficult to follow.
I did not reread books 1 and 2 before picking this up (although I meant to skim them), but there were enough brief hints about past events that I was able to recall most of the important details when necessary.

'Nuff said.
I still am blown away by this series, not just because of the plot and characters, but because the format of the story really took me by surprise. Not that I was surprised to find it not in traditional layout (I knew that was the case when I bought it), but I was very surprised how easy it was to connect with the characters, follow the action, and actually lose my breath repeatedly because of how into it I was.
I would love for these authors to work together again. I really, really hope they do.
Obsidio was 5 ๐ฅ for me, rounding out what is a bit of a rarity for me... 5 ๐ฅfor every installment of the series. I would absolutely recommend this series, even if you have reservations about the unique format!
