Destroy Me (Shatter Me #1.5) by Tahereh Mafi

This. Novella. Destroyed. Me.

Pun intended, of course.

I am still reeling from the introduction to the series. Huge shoutout to Caryn  (@iam.caryn on bookstagram-check her out!!) for letting me know I should read Destroy Me before moving on to book 2. I devoured it last night.

Cover? I think I like it more than the cover for Shatter Me! Just look at it! Click the image to read the synopsis on Goodreads, too!

1. Characters: This novella centers on Warner's POV and takes place shortly after the events in book one. I loved looking into his twisty mind more. Kind of like reading Fairest (Levana's novella from The Lunar Chronicles series), but maybe not quite so psycho. Levana was cray. But enough about her... Warner's has some secrets and you get a further look into his character in this novella.

2. Story: This brief story was so heartbreaking and enraging and tragic and passionate and crazy and wonderful. It's the perfect bite to keep me wanting more from this series and ready to dive into book two immediately!

3. Author's Writing Style: Mafi definitely showed her diverse talents by switching POV's for this novella. Juliette (the protagonist of Shatter Me) had a very distinct voice, but Mafi demonstrated that she can write creatively and keep the audience turning page after page no matter whose POV she's writing from! I hope to see more alternating POV's in later novels.

4. Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars. Though it was short, this is easily one of the best novellas I've ever read. It's kind of rare that I even enjoy novellas at all, let alone rate them 5 stars. I highly recommend reading it after book one; however, if you've already read the entire series but somehow missed this or weren't interested... reconsider!! It's so worth reading and won't take you long!

Monday Madness!

Ahoy there! 💦 (No idea why I felt like greeting you that way... But I did.) I just had to gush on two particular things today: 1. My Shelfie 2. My Shop Item #1 on the agenda: The shelfie I posted yesterday! Click the image to visit my bookstagram! I gotta admit.. I really  like the way my shelves look right now. Unfortunately, in order to showcase some of my favorite covers of the moment, I had to hide about half of my books behind  other books. Which is kind of fun because next time I rearrange my bookcase and take them all out, I will have undoubtedly forgotten about many of them and it'll be like re-discovering lost treasure. 😂However, it also means I simple don't get to enjoy the visibility of about half my books. 😔 Sad times. At this point, nearly every single little cubby has books behind books. So, I mean, I can't just keep doing that forever. Eventually, I will need to get a new bookshelf to add to my bookcase. The problem is, I really want a whi
