The Scarlet Thread by Francine Rivers

I only have a few moments to type up this review before I head back to work from my lunch break, so here goes! (Thanks for reading!)

Click the cover of The Scarlet Thread to view the full synopsis on Goodreads and add it to your TBR shelf!

1. Characters: I enjoyed the characters in this and, as always, they are very relate-able and realistic; however, I didn't find myself getting as attached to these characters as I usually do in Francine's works. I will say there was some major character development and nearly everyone in the novel is a dynamic character! Everyone grows.

2. Story: This novel has a beautiful story; it follows the lives of two women, eras apart, facing similar situations and gives a glimpse at the hardships, joy, and perseverance of each. Having the change in dynamic in each chapter (present day and past era journal entries) helped the story move along and never become monotonous. I will say this was probably the most difficult of Francine's novels for me to get into out of the maybe 8 or 9 I've read. After I read the initial 100 pages, it took me several days to want to pick it back up. However, once I did I began reading it everyday on my lunch break until it was over and then I wished it wasn't!

3. Author's Style: What can I say?? Francine has a way of gracefully handling very delicate situations and doing so in a way that feels real, but also challenges me to change my own reality of how I handle situations. I've begun to realize that reading her work has benefited me more than any Bible study or sermon series on relationships I've ever read or listened to, and I think it's because she weaves Truth and Scripture into the story, and that's really how I learn best. It makes me relate what I'm reading to my own life better than someone who outline a passage and then says "This is what this is saying.." Instead, her characters discover Grace and Truth through their encounters and their own reading of Scripture and that just really impacts me more.

4. Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars. Although this is my least favorite of Francine Rivers' full-length novels, I still have to give it a 4 star rating. It has left a lasting impression on me, and I believe I will likely read it again someday!

5. Similar Reading: If you have read The Scarlet Thread too and would like to read some other works by Francine, I highly recommend the ones below! If you've never read Francine, I recommend starting with Redeeming Love! Click any of the covers below to explore them on Goodreads.

Monday Madness!

Ahoy there! 💦 (No idea why I felt like greeting you that way... But I did.) I just had to gush on two particular things today: 1. My Shelfie 2. My Shop Item #1 on the agenda: The shelfie I posted yesterday! Click the image to visit my bookstagram! I gotta admit.. I really  like the way my shelves look right now. Unfortunately, in order to showcase some of my favorite covers of the moment, I had to hide about half of my books behind  other books. Which is kind of fun because next time I rearrange my bookcase and take them all out, I will have undoubtedly forgotten about many of them and it'll be like re-discovering lost treasure. 😂However, it also means I simple don't get to enjoy the visibility of about half my books. 😔 Sad times. At this point, nearly every single little cubby has books behind books. So, I mean, I can't just keep doing that forever. Eventually, I will need to get a new bookshelf to add to my bookcase. The problem is, I really want a whi...
