Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) by Tahereh Mafi

Sorry it took a few days to post this review... I was unraveled.

Let's just jump in! As with the first two, I really love the cover. I like that this series has a consistent style, but each cover is just different enough to be beautiful in its own way.

1. Characters: Let's just say there is some major character development all around in this one! It doesn't necessarily come from dialogue or action but instead comes by the realizations of the protagonist and she herself grows as well. You get to know everyone else as she does, and it adds layers to your attachment to them.

2. Story: Although there was never a point that I was bored, I definitely prefer the second half of this book over the first half. I wouldn't say the first half was slow, but one of my favorite characters wasn't on the scene in this one until later, so really I felt like I was just turning the pages til I finally saw the character's name. From that point I devoured the rest of the story.

3. Author's Writing Style: I miss the strike-through style from the first book. Although there's still some strike-throughs scattered throughout the book, it's a much less frequent occurrence. It's impressive to me, however, how well the author was able to develop the protagonist/narrator's voice and character but do so gradually. It feels like the same person from the first book, but there's a very clear progression of her mental/emotional state.

4. Overall Rating: 4/5 Stars. The only reason this isn't a 5 star is that it took too long for one of my favorite characters to step back into the story, and that was a little disappointing. Otherwise, it was an absolutely incredible read, and I can't wait to read the next novella and the final installment!

5. Similar Reading: Don't miss the first book in this series and the brief novella preceding this one! Click the covers to visit their pages on Goodreads and add them to your TBR shelf!

HAPPY RELEASE DAY, LILAC LANE!!

It's here, it's here! You guys, Lilac Lane is finally released and available for purchase! You may have seen my post about it on bookstagram earlier, but in case you missed it, here's the beauty in all its soft purple glory! 😍 What a catch. I am  so  thankful to have received a copy in advance. Although I have yet to start  watching  Chesapeake Shores on Hallmark Channel (it's the very next show on my list!), I was able to appreciate the beauty of this novel. I truly believe it can be enjoyed whether you've read all the Chesapeake Shores books or this is the first you pick up! Synopsis: Single mom Kiera Malone struggled for years to raise her three children in a small town on the coast of Ireland. Just when she’s let down her guard and allowed herself to love again, her fiancé suffers a fatal heart attack and leaves her alone yet again. Overwhelmed by her loss, she’s persuaded to visit her father, Dillon O’Malley, and her daughter, Moira O’Brien, i...

Monday Madness!

Ahoy there! 💦 (No idea why I felt like greeting you that way... But I did.) I just had to gush on two particular things today: 1. My Shelfie 2. My Shop Item #1 on the agenda: The shelfie I posted yesterday! Click the image to visit my bookstagram! I gotta admit.. I really  like the way my shelves look right now. Unfortunately, in order to showcase some of my favorite covers of the moment, I had to hide about half of my books behind  other books. Which is kind of fun because next time I rearrange my bookcase and take them all out, I will have undoubtedly forgotten about many of them and it'll be like re-discovering lost treasure. 😂However, it also means I simple don't get to enjoy the visibility of about half my books. 😔 Sad times. At this point, nearly every single little cubby has books behind books. So, I mean, I can't just keep doing that forever. Eventually, I will need to get a new bookshelf to add to my bookcase. The problem is, I really want a whi...

BOOK TOUR! The Weaver's Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd

Huge thank-you to TLC Book Tours for sending me a copy of The Weaver's Daughter by Sarah E. Ladd. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but I've read other works by Ms. Ladd, and she has a wonderful talent! I love her characters! Synopsis: Kate's loyalties bind her to the past. Henry's loyalties compel him to strive for a better future. In a landscape torn between tradition and vision, can two souls find the strength to overcome their preconceptions? Loyalty has been at the heart of the Dearborne family for as long as Kate can remember, but a war is brewing in their small village, one that has the power to rip families asunder--including her own.
