*Dark Flame* (The Immortals #4) by Alyson Noel

Devouring. That is the word for how I'm making my way through this series. After a slump through most of June, I'm finally on a roll and it's a result of this series which my husband, of all people (he's not a reader), picked out for me last weekend!

I simply cannot stop reading. Let's dive into this review so I can pick up the next book...

I still think the cover for Blue Moon is my favorite, but I like the consistency of the dark style across all the cover art from this series. The title has real significance in this story though, and I especially like that.

1. Characters: I'm growing more attached to the characters with each installment of this series, though Ever has one particular friend who continues to make me roll my eyes. The chemistry between the main characters keeps developing in a positive way which I am so grateful for. Their relationship is beginning to feel more and more genuine and less insta-love. There is a good variety of personalities among the characters as well which keeps the conversations flowing naturally, but Roman's heavy English diction seems to come and go at different points in the dialogue which began annoying me towards the end of this book.

2. Story: This particular book had an especially unexpected turn at the end that will drastically affect the final two books which is pretty exciting because I love unpredictability. The story in each of the books so far in this series flows very naturally and feels fast-paced which I really enjoy. I've found that when you read a lot of a particular genre you begin to notice patterns and obvious foreshadowing which results in "twists" that are more of "Ugh. Finally that's out in the open. Duh." rather than "OMG I did not seeing that coming! What now?!" I prefer the latter.

3. Author's Writing Style: Alyson Noel has maintained a very consistent voice throughout this series which is very refreshing to me. My experience over the last year or so is that many YA authors can nail a first book, maybe even a second, but they either rush through or force the remainder of their series and the fact that I'm still mowing through these books after being 4 deep speaks well of the author. Also.. She totally tweeted me yesterday!

4. Overall rating: 4.5 Stars! I'm not sure what holds me back from giving the books in this series a full 5 stars each time, but I have a feeling that as the series comes to a close in the upcoming installments I will inch closer and closer to that 5 star rating. This is absolutely a series I would recommend as well as reread myself.

5. Similar reading: If you have read the titles below and enjoyed them, I think you would enjoy this series too! If you've already read this series and enjoyed it, perhaps you'll find a helpful recommendation below that will lead you to your next favorite read.

BOOK TOUR!! Steal Away Home by Billy Coffey

It's time!! I am honored to be a part of TLC's book tour for Steal Away Home by Billy Coffey. Published by Thomas Nelson, Steal Away Home is a newly released work of Christian fiction that is told through the eyes of minor league baseball player Owen Cross. As Owen is offered his first big time shot, he reflects back on the journey that led him there. I can truly say several things about this book: The language used and writing style overall is breathtaking. It's poetic. The characters are well-developed and dynamic. The story unfolds in a way that creates tension and mystery. By the end of Steal Away Home , I was dying to see how the flashbacks of Owen's life leading up to the big game would connect to his present state and how far the story would go beyond the game.  Did I mention the cover? ๐Ÿ˜ Take a look again, and click the image below to read the full synopsis on Goodreads! Monday Madness!

Ahoy there! ๐Ÿ’ฆ (No idea why I felt like greeting you that way... But I did.) I just had to gush on two particular things today: 1. My Shelfie 2. My Shop Item #1 on the agenda: The shelfie I posted yesterday! Click the image to visit my bookstagram! I gotta admit.. I really  like the way my shelves look right now. Unfortunately, in order to showcase some of my favorite covers of the moment, I had to hide about half of my books behind  other books. Which is kind of fun because next time I rearrange my bookcase and take them all out, I will have undoubtedly forgotten about many of them and it'll be like re-discovering lost treasure. ๐Ÿ˜‚However, it also means I simple don't get to enjoy the visibility of about half my books. ๐Ÿ˜” Sad times. At this point, nearly every single little cubby has books behind books. So, I mean, I can't just keep doing that forever. Eventually, I will need to get a new bookshelf to add to my bookcase. The problem is, I really want a whi...
