What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

*Sigh* Summer reads make me long for the beach. What about you? I just finished reading What I Thought Was True and it's an absolutely perfect summer read. The setting, the characters... And just look at that cover! Does that not scream beach read? Let's dive into this review (pun intended).

 1. Characters: Adore. Not a single character is perfect, but each feels real. I feel like I know them. Like I just hung out with them for the summer- and I love that. The main characters have cute chemistry that doesn't feel forced.

2. Story: Honestly, without these particular characters and setting I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the story itself, which keeps me from rating this a full 5 stars. But it does flow nicely and is never dull. This is definitely a character-driven novel, though.

3. Author's Writing Style: Loved it! Easy to read, natural flow in first-person POV. I felt almost like I was reading a diary or a memoir. Like these people really do exist and these things really did happen. I will definitely be reading other works from this author (this was the first of hers I've read).

4. Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars! I was honestly a little sad to leave the setting of this story most of all. Though I adore the characters, the island was beautiful and it truly made me long for the beach (as if I don't already do that 24/7/365). The only reason I docked this novel half a star is the story. As I said, the story is character-driven and the plot never felt slow necessarily, but it wasn't a plot that kept me turning the pages, dying to finish in a single sitting.

Monday Madness!

Ahoy there! 💦 (No idea why I felt like greeting you that way... But I did.) I just had to gush on two particular things today: 1. My Shelfie 2. My Shop Item #1 on the agenda: The shelfie I posted yesterday! Click the image to visit my bookstagram! I gotta admit.. I really  like the way my shelves look right now. Unfortunately, in order to showcase some of my favorite covers of the moment, I had to hide about half of my books behind  other books. Which is kind of fun because next time I rearrange my bookcase and take them all out, I will have undoubtedly forgotten about many of them and it'll be like re-discovering lost treasure. 😂However, it also means I simple don't get to enjoy the visibility of about half my books. 😔 Sad times. At this point, nearly every single little cubby has books behind books. So, I mean, I can't just keep doing that forever. Eventually, I will need to get a new bookshelf to add to my bookcase. The problem is, I really want a whi...
